The Al Gore of Mountain Biking?

October 19, 2017

I did not invent Mt. Biking.

The excellent endorsement by the Daily Camera gets one thing about me wrong: "Mark McIntyre, who came to Boulder 40 years ago for the mountain biking..."  I actually moved here because of rock-climbing and mountaineering and I became interested in cycling soon after my arrival in 1977.

According to Wikipedia  " The first two mass-produced mountain bikes were sold in the early 1980s " I remember working at The Spoke when our first Stump-Jumper arrived but I certainly did not invent Mt. Biking as might be suggested by article.  Just want to get that straight.  I have been waiting for someone to call me out  on this error and I decided to beat anyone to the punch.
